Is migraine more than a headache?
Short answer
Yes. Head pain is only one feature. Migraine can involve dizziness, visual sensitivity, nausea, cognitive slowing, neck pain, fatigue, and difficulty tolerating normal activity — sometimes with little or no head pain at all.
More detail
Because migraine affects multiple neurological systems, patients often describe attacks in very different ways. Some experience pounding head pain; others describe fog, unsteadiness, or nausea as the dominant feature.
This is why evaluation and care look at more than the head. Balance, eye movements, autonomic regulation, sleep, and neck function may all be part of the picture.
This information is educational and general in nature. It is not a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it does not describe every possible cause of a symptom. Individual evaluation is required to determine what applies to any specific case.
