Why do multiple small triggers sometimes cause an attack?
Short answer
Because triggers add up. Any individual factor may sit below the threshold on its own, but combined they can push the total load past what the nervous system can currently tolerate.
More detail
This is the essence of the threshold model. A short night of sleep, a skipped lunch, a stressful drive, and a bright store may each be manageable in isolation. Stacked, they exceed the threshold and produce an attack.
Tracking patterns over one to two weeks usually reveals which combinations most reliably push a specific person past threshold and where to intervene.
