FAQ · Migraine and Headache

What is chronic migraine?

Short answer

Chronic migraine generally refers to a pattern of headaches on 15 or more days per month, at least eight of which have migraine features, over a period of three months or more.

More detail

Chronic migraine often develops from episodic migraine that has escalated over time due to a combination of factors — untreated triggers, medication overuse, sleep disruption, unresolved neck or concussion contributors, or metabolic instability.

Care generally focuses on lowering the overall input load, addressing modifiable contributors, coordinating medical management, and rebuilding tolerance for daily activity.
